As the mother of two wonderful children, I was constantly searching for bedtime stories that not only celebrated their beauty and worth but also encouraged them to achieve and explore academically as well. In 2016, with my kids all grown up, I had yet to find the book I was looking for so I decided to write it myself. Miles and Maya is a book series that seeks to inspire Black children and all children to delve into the infinite possibilities of the science technology, engineering and mathematics fields, and through representation, remind them that they are more than capable of taking the lead in these areas!

  I really enjoyed reading this book! It was fun, well written, and imaginative. It's especially difficult these days to find contemporary children's books featuring black kids interested in science and engineering! Can't wait to see what this author does next!
